All time favourites!

I noticed a lot of friends putting up a list of their 10 all time favourite books on facebook and it seemed like such a fun mental exercise. Here’s my list (in no particular order):

1.            The Three Investigator Mystery Series by Robert Arthur - So till I was in the 8th or 9th standard I dreaded reading. I thought I wasn’t a book person till my classmate Pooja Garg introduced me to these. I can’t thank you enough Pooja. These books were my firsts into the world of reading! I now try and gift these to my nieces and nephews who complain that reading is boring :P

2.            The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand – This book inspired me to be just ME. I am still working on that though…

3.            The 7 habits of highly effective people by Stephen Covey – Gifted by my hubby dearest Deepak Mehra way back in college. He insisted I read it and I am glad he did. This book changed my life. A lot of what I am today is thanks to this book.

4.            Don’t lose your mind, lose your weight AND Don’t lose out, workout by Rujuta Diwekar. I just love how these books simplify food and exercise for you. They make me realize that I know a lot about nutrition and being fit already; that I can continue to eat the yummy yummy food prepared by my grandmom and mom without counting calories.

5.            The Harry Potter Series by J K Rowling – Oh how I loveeee these books. Probably the ONLY set of books that I most definitely want to read again. I am not a read-the-same-book again sort of person but these I will read again GLADLY.

6.            The Power of now by Eckart Tolle – Another book strongly recommended by Deepak Mehra. Thank you thank you so much for this one. It helped me get rid of a lottt of unnecessary emotional baggage… Phew!

7.            Wonder by R. J Palacio – Such a simply written book. Just makes you want to focus on the inside of a person; overlooking all the packaging.

8.            The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini – When I read this book I really saw human emotions unfold in front of my eyes. What a brilliant one!

9.            Word Power Made Easy by Norman Lewis – Thank you Madhavi Gokhale ma'am for suggesting this book in the first year of engineering. Up until then I dreaded English… really. I thought I wasn’t fluent enough and hesitated to speak it. Reading this one made me fall in love with the language.

10.          Pregnancy by Nutan Pandit – a MUST READ for all new moms-to-be. I started reading it in my first trimester and wow-oh-wow  this book just helped me get rid of all my fears. It just simply answered all my pregnancy related queries… the silliest ones even  :D
